School Council Brings Forward Proposals

27th Oct 2016

The School Council sent two representatives to meet with me this morning. They were very professional in the meeting...and brought forward 4 proposals to improve the running of the school.

Proposal 1 - They wanted some softer balls to use in all classes in PE, 'to reduce the chances of pupils being hurt', as they felt the current balls were a little too hard and heavy. (They are the ones using them...so I think that was a very reasonable idea....new balls already ordered!)

...Proposal 2 - They suggested paying for the new PE equipment with a fundraising event that they would organise themselves. (Very grown up...I thanked them for even thinking about this...they can always pay me back for the balls, or make a contribution towards them. As it teaches them the value of money, I think this is a great idea !)

Proposal 3 - They had some suggestions for an upcoming PTA event (Again...very reasonable, and I have already passed on their suggestions to our PTA Chairman Mr Iain Morgan)

Proposal 4 - They liked the way the 'Buddy' system was operating in the school with Primary 4 & 5 pupils as the Buddies, but felt that this could be expanded so that the Primary 3 & 6 pupils could take their turn as being Buddies. (I am more than happy with this to happen after the Half-Term Holiday).

A very successful meeting...with the pupils having their say in the running of the school.
