Primary 7 On The Ball

25th Mar 2022

A group of twelve children from Primary 7 represented the school at the ‘Junior Cup’ on Friday morning. The tournament, held on the 3G pitches at Ballymena Showgrounds, featured 12 schools from the local area.

The team won two games; drew one and were close in the two games they lost being defeated just 1-0.
Top scorer for Central was Ella – who couldn’t be stopped flying down the wing! Clean sheets were recorded, in multiple games, in goal by Daniel and Jamie; with save of the tournament going to Owen. Captain Peyton was marshalling the defence and encouraging his teammates. William and Olivia were great at holding their position leading the line. The passing and movement of Lily and Lara out wide gave us lots of options to keep possession of the ball. Jade was a rock in defence. Claire made a fantastic interception to stop a sure fire attack. Andrew provided the motor in the middle of the pitch switching the play forwards and to the wide players.

We are really proud of all the boys and girls who took part; for their sportsmanship; encouragement of each other and the way they passed the ball around. It was brilliant to be able to include so many children who had never played in a football team before.
