Linfield At The Central

2nd Dec 2019

This morning we were delighted to be joined by Linfield FC defender Josh Robinson and club director Stephen Shaw. The boys and girls in P6 and P7 were able to ask a multitude of interesting and varied questions. During the Q and A session, we learned that Josh probably enjoys keeping clean sheets more than scoring goals; you are unlikely to find him dancing to celebrate a goal as he prefers a knee slide and that he values winning the league over the whole season slightly more than a cup win… but he just loves to win! We also learned about the history of the club- 53 league wins and counting making them the second most successful club in the league history, and arguably in the world…just behind Rangers!

Josh shared his passion not only for football, but sport in general; encouraging the children to find something they enjoyed and to keep active.

After the questions Josh showed the children dribbling and passing skills, and the children took part in two drills. He picked out our own Josh and Aimee as two, of many, who stood out for him.

They brought along two trophies that the club are current holders of - the league trophy, known as the Gibson Cup and the League cup. The children had a chance to hold the trophies. Maybe one day one of our pupils will be winning a trophy.

A brilliant morning for the children in P6 and P7, and we would all like to thank Josh, Stephen and Linfield FC for coming to Randalstown.
