Update - Good Friday 10th April 2020

10th Apr 2020

We have reached the end of our third week, since the shut-down, providing for the children of Key Workers during this difficult and worrying time.

We set out to ensure that the school was open every day to 'do our part' in helping the Key Workers do their jobs and to keep the hospitals & pharmacies open, the vulnerable cared for, the supermarket shelves stocked, the post delivered etc etc.

We all need these crucial services to continue to operate...but the personal way I am looking at this situation, is that my own mum needs carers to visit 4 times a day...every day.  If I need key workers to do this for me...what can I do to make their jobs easier for them ?

Our doors have remained open...even during this holiday period, thanks to the support of staff being prepared to leave the safety of their homes and put themselves at risk...to do what our country needs and the Government has asked us to do.

Unfortunately, almost on a daily basis, I am still being asked to help Key Worker families who are unable to get their children looked after in their own schools, so they can do their crucial jobs.  This reflects the fact that only 31 schools in the whole of the Antrim & Newtownabbey area, remain open.

I attach the freely available information, produced daily by the Department of Education, showing not just ourselves, but all the local schools that ARE open and are supporting our own, local, Key Workers.
