Pirate Treasure Chest For Reception Class
24th Jul 2018
Before the holiday I had a chat with Miss Pedlow about the changes she would be bringing into the Reception Class this year. During that conversation I talked about making a centre-piece for her over the summer...and we agreed on a Pirate’s Treasure Chest.
But how to make a simple box look the ‘part’ ???
I accept it is completely OVER engineered...but here’s my attempt...made from scratch, from the pine curved lid, the rope binding and carry handles...to the leather strapping over the lid (to conceal the screws)...and the soft closing hinges to ensure little fingers don’t get caught...I hope the children of the school will enjoy using it and incorporating it into their play...as much as I enjoyed making it for them.
The chest was hard enough...but spare a thought for Trevor...I hear he has been asked to make a play prow of a ship to go along with the Treasure Chest !!!
