Over the next number of days the contractors (working on the water main on the Church Road) have informed the school that car access to the front of the school will not be possible at pick-up times due to the site being 'open'.
They have asked that parents use the OC Carpark or the one at the mouth of Neillsbrook and walk up the Church Road to school to meet the pupils. The contractors intend to allow safe pedestraian access to the school by fencing off the footpath running past Drummaul Parish Church from the bottom of the Church Road.
This is a very difficult situation for a school in term time...and is outside our control.
To try to help I will be asking teachers to walk the pupils right down to the front, school gate, to avoid a bottleneck of pupils all exiting the school grounds at once.
Access by the back gate of the school is also an alternative option, but I would ask parents to be careful as Clonboy Walk is a very narrow congested road at the best of times.
I hope that this work, which should have been carried out in August, is completed as soon as possible, so that normal access can be resumed.
