The children in Primary 1 really enjoyed their Maths Week Challenge today. We have been learning to count backwards from 5 and know the song “Five Little Ducks” very well. Our challenge today was to show the numbers 1-5 in as many ways as possible. Most children choose to use Unifix Towers and Numicon shapes. Others decided to use dice and counters. Some children even challenged themselves to use see how many different materials they could use. The children were great at answering questions about the biggest/smallest numbers, the numbers which come before and after and what would happen if…. problem solving questions. Of course we finished off the lesson by singing and dancing to the “Five Little Ducks” song.
