Gardening Club
12th Jun 2019
Gardening Club met with Tidy Randalstown volunteers Helen and Jane down at our garden plot beside the River Maine.
Our garden plot is underneath mature trees and as a result is in a deeply shaded area. Because of this we have to think about what plants will grow here.
Most plants either like full sun or a little sun, but our plot doesn't really get any sun at all.
The plants that Mrs McVicker has chosen for our plot are plants which don't mind living in the shade and thrive there.
We have planted a range of perennials which will come up every year...hostas, ferns, holly and elephant's ears.
We have also planted rudbeckia which gives us a nice yellow pop of colour late Summer and Autumn and some busy lizzies which will give uis a nice flash of colour now in between the different shades of green from the other plants.
