Archaeology In Primary 7
P7 began their World Around Us topic, ‘The Aztecs’, with a hands-on experience of archaeology. As well as learning about the way that archaeologists work and the skills they need they were able to tests their own investigative skills and questioning.
After the theory, the children explored a dig and identified possible clues; ensuring they knew and recorded where it was found. They had to piece together the clues to discern which of the potential candidates had lived there. Narrowing down the options and working together as a team to piece it all together.
The children’s final task was to investigate what could be established about people from the contents of their bins! The children were able to make logical connections and draw conclusions using evidence and reasoning to support their views.
