Randalstown Tulip Challenge

14th Nov 2017

Following Randalstown’s Gold Medal from RHS last week and also the winning of the very top prize in the Britain in Bloom Award, Tidy Randalstown has come up with an idea to involve every pupil in the area.

As part of our plans to work more closely with young people throughout the winter period we would like (as an introduction to this) to invite all the local Primary Schools to take part in a very special challenge. Your town, Randalstown, is going to be competing in the Best Kept Ireland competition in May next year and as a way of competing in it and also celebrating 2017’s success we are going to have a Festival of Tulips in May. Your part in this is really important to us and in a way you will be part of ‘the big team’ trying to win a prize for the town where you live. So here is ‘the big challenge’.

We are inviting each pupil in the Randalstown area to compete (along with us) to make their town look its very best, but especially in May. In order to be successful we need tulips EVERYWHERE. Only you can make this happen. We suggest that each pupil who wants to be part of this challenge brings one pack of tulip bulbs (any colour) along to their school by 24th November or by an earlier date if you prefer. Following this, the planting will be done and then, as the bulbs mature and grow, we hope to surprise the whole town, the judges and anyone visiting Randalstown in May with our special tulip display.

Do you think you could help us do this? If so, join ‘The Tulip Challenge’ now. Please talk to your teacher and to those at home and let’s show everyone what we can do together.

Many thanks,

The Tidy Randalstown Team
